Commissioned for World Expo '88; fabricated in Seattle and flown to Brisbane. Spiral "meeting place" form symbolizing the cyclical, balanced nature that nurtures life; inspired during the gestation of Oakes's first child.

During the gestation period of my wife's and my first child, I designed a sculpture for the city of Santa Monica for Palisades Park. A park that defines the border of the city, continent, and ocean.

In 1990 I was asked by the city of Palm Desert, California, to design a park on six acres of land that was at the time unused.

On the outskirts of the small town of Hopland, California, the Solar Living Center helps celebrate the creative and fun side of sustainable living technology. Baile began his involvement with the Center by designing a yearly Solar Calendar.

This interactive installation directly involves the public in the potential impacts of global warming. A bicycle-powered pump and a photovoltaic cell connect to a large water tank with a 3D map of a flooded San Francisco Bay Area in it.

The Solar Living Center also has an educational play area. Water, photovoltaic cells, and wet sand are an irresistible combination. Here children have the chance to build their own tiny aqueducts, pump water, and irrigate garden plants.
